  Enjoyed this a lot more on my second watch. I think seeing more of Mikey Madison’s actual personality during awards season made me realize how great of a job she did playing Ani. Yuri Borisov also fully deserved his supporting actor nom, he is one of my favorite parts of Anora. I really love the reverse Cinderella story here. To go from feeling like “wow, these two could actually make it!” to the despair of the ending is just crushing. 

  And yes, I would still really like some tinsel in my hair.

  This so perfectly captures the feeling of falling in love. I could watch this over and over again, I LOVE LOVE, y’all.

  We’re SO back. 

  Well, kinda. I really, really liked this but it has its faults. The things I liked: Maika Monroe, Nic Cage being Nic Cage, the overwhelming sense of dread that just builds and builds (I didn’t realize how shaken I was until the lights came on), Longlegs liking both T Rex and Lou Reed.   I mean, this has always been one of my absolute favorite movies. I would not care about film at all if it wasn’t for this movie, but to see it in a theater? Oh my god, there is nothing better! Like, seeing Henry’s fourth wall break on the big screen then hearing him complain about egg noodles and ketchup and Sid Vicious’ cover of My Way? Gave me chills!
