  I respect this movie a lot for its themes, performances, and style, but tonally I had trouble totally locking into it. 

  The black and white photography and set design are fantastic. I loved the opening credits with the practical effects and score. 

  Landaus performance is remarkable, he’s completely convincing as Lugosi. 

  The movie is attempting to be earnest about the value of artistic vision, found family, and sincerity, while also being very outlandish comedically. I understand I’m missing the point…

  They don’t make em like this anymore because you have to give your Uber drivers a destination. 

  I saw this a long time ago, under appreciated it, and kind of mind melded it with Up In The Air. This is a perfect movie, one of the best of the century.

  A movie that works as a sweeping metaphor for war and the self destructiveness of man, as well as a focused, intimate, funny, break up story. 

  Banshees is very funny, but also profoundly dark. 

  The leads, and their core relationship feel fully realized and complex. 

  While the actions taken by the characters are hyper dramatic and extreme, they effectively land, and do not feel out of step with the world the movie builds.
