    Quick Ups and Downs:

+ This movie is fucked up. No, really. It’s FUCKED UP. It’s mesmerizing and shock inducing and crazy and so gosh darn fucked up.

+ The acting across the board is perfect. David Pareja and Estefania de los Santos are spot on perfect in their roles.

    - The last two minutes or so are a little tacked on and probably could have been cut.

    - You simply MUST go into it knowing nothing, yet at the same time, it’s going to be traumatic for some viewers and they should get to know that in advance. So it’s conflicted like that.

    OVERALL: Great

    Quick Ups & Downs:

+ Robert Pattinson continues to turn in glorious performances post-Twilight, as he delivers a wonderful role here as the various Mickeys. It's wild how different Mickey 17 is from Batman, but he pulls both roles off extraordinarily.

+ It's another typical Bong Joon-Ho movie about classism and animal rights, this time set... IN SPACE. It's a really nice touch on his usual formula.

    - There are aspects of the movie that don't matter and probably should have…

    Midsommar

    ½

No movie aside from Fight Club has ever made me feel as much like the version I saw had to have been "broken" than Midsommar. I know many folks who think this movie is a wonder, and it causes me to question my own sanity to no end, because I found this movie to be a wreck on so very many levels.

I will copy the review I wrote in the immediate aftermath of watching Midsommar below for more in-depth…
