What a wonderful thing to revisit. One of those nostalgia vehicles for a time I didn’t exist. Beautiful story of growing up, friendship, art, and purpose.

FINALLY got to this one, which I expected to be way up my alley, and boy was it!

But… not what I expected at all. Granted, I knew basically nothing about this other than that it was one of my grandma’s favorites. And, I loved it too!

Sooo funny, and I see people talking about how dated it is, and sure, it’s a product of its time, but I think largely had incredibly sharp, over-the-top, expertly satirical sensibilities that still work surprisingly well today.

The race track scene is all timeee

Lots to love here, but Pattinson at the center of it all is far and away the best part. With a career of incredible work already, this is probably his best/my favorite. A wholly original, deeply nuanced, fun, funny, sweet, and everything-in-between performance that’s truly unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Mickey instantly feels like an iconic character for all time. Really cannot overstate how good he is.

Yes, it's really that good. Really that mind blowing. Really that fucking awesome. I can't say anything about Mad Max: Fury Road that hasn't already been said a million times, but it's all true. You owe it to yourself to see this film. It's a true achievement in environmental and subtle storytelling, mind-blowing action choreography, and practical effects. Fury Road is the real deal.
