Incredibly engaging and entertaining horror film. I don't know if it needed to be 2 and a half hours, but The Wailing has so much sauce that it doesn't really bother me. So many memorable sequences and I just love the look of the whole thing. An epic of horror entertainment

    Barking Dogs Never Bite

    ★★★★

I liked Barking Dogs Never Bite quite a bit. If you can get past the (admittedly in poor taste) subject matter and treatment of animals, I think the direction and editing are brilliant and the script is loaded with tons of great setups and payoffs. The way the characters' stories all intersect is neat and I especially enjoyed the way the film tackles class through portraying a literal dog-eat-dog world.

There are some actual problems I have with the film narratively, but on the whole I'd regard this as a strong debut and easily the most underrated movie of Bong Joon Ho's filmography.

Without everyone's exceptional performances, the emotional core of the movie wouldn't work nearly as well as it does. The third act and the Jaws-style set piece in the middle were fucking incredible. The soundtrack of this…

    Mickey 17

    ★★★

There's things to like about this, but Mickey 17 is ultimately a hard movie to really nail down my thoughts on. A lot of elements of the movie don't really work and are ultimately just kind of loud and mildly annoying. The first half of the movie in particular is just constant exposition and narration to the point where it really feels like Bong Joon Ho just doesn't really trust the audience. Thankfully, that takes a significant backseat in the…
