Noumenon

My indifference to men has shut me out from their company.
I live now in a world of ghosts, a prisoner of my dreams and fantasies.

Guido Anselmi, Fellini and I have the exact same taste in women.

8 1/2 is an unrestrained exercise in self-reference and self-indulgence, a therapeutic session of a man with a lot of soul, made to be appreciated and cherished by other ensouled people.

Its masterful camerawork, amazing angles, sets, and lighting make it a feast for the eyes.

Nearly every arc and scene of 8 1/2 is memorable, a collection of disjointed moments that allow us and Guido to reflect…

I like Villeneuve's work. He has an innate understanding of aesthetics and grandiosity.

Choosing your favorite Kubrick film is a hard task. Starting today, Barry Lyndon is a close second after Strangelove.

It is a perfect compliment to another of my favorites, Ridley Scott's The Duellists, though it is less character-driven and more of a tour de force for Kubrick.

Simply put, Barry Lyndon is a film dominated by fatalism.

The photography and lighting are perfect, the stage design and arrangement are flawless. Every interior shot is a carefully arranged work of art,…

A powerful drama with the unlikeliest of stories. Nicolas Cage delivers another knockout performance, possibly his best since Adaptation, and Alex Wolff shows that he has potential as a serious actor.

Pig gives off serious Jesus vibes, reminding me of The King (2002) and an inverted version of John Wick. It's about meaning, loneliness, "faking it", and ultimately what makes us human.

The atmosphere is fantastic, the direction is solid, but Pig is all about the the strength of the…
