Quest 2017
Had the pleasure and privilege of attending a screening of this in Philadelphia with a Q&A with the filmmakers, family, and local activists following. A beautifully human movie about one family that’s specific but universal.
Someone asked, “What do you want viewers to take from this movie?” PJ, the precocious teenage daughter who’s one of the central subjects of the film, answered “empathy”. It’s a film about gun violence, race, gentrification, police discrimination, LGBT identity, poverty, addiction and so much more but only because these are the “issues” that affect most families in America every day.
