A fun yet somewhat empty ride
First, to start with the good: Mikey Madison absolutely kills it in her role as Anora and there’s a few sequences (dragging Ivan out of the club and everyone following) and shots (Anora and Igor walking on the pier) that I really liked.
Now to the bad, and there’s a decent amount for me:
I didn’t enjoy the pace of the movie and found that certain sequences went on for WAYY too long. One…
Decent movie, but with all the memes of Kirsten Stewart from her Twilight days, I couldn’t really watch her be moody in this without cringing.
Also Chloë’s performance is alright but just doesn’t do it for me when trying to convey that Hollywood tabloid star character Assayas tries to create.
I enjoyed seeing how the line between the play-within-the-film and the film’s reality begin to blur but aside from that it’s nothing special.
