  Absolute determination in representing human life, industry and ingenuity. Filmed in a times and places of great change and little cynicism. I felt the great promise of the 20th century reaching out from its grave.

  It's beautiful and the musical score by Michael Nyman is a total banger (the nu jazz/electronic score by the Cinematic Orchiestra does nothing for me).
