Enola Holmes 2020
Clever, fun, heartwarming. I’m not always a huge fan of fourth wall breaking but MBB. Is fantastic and convincing. Even the lil romantic arc is done tastefully and naturally in a way.
Most interestingly, I put off watching this movie because I thought I’d have Sherlock fatigue by now. But this remake is fresh because it’s a movie in “the world of Sherlock Holmes” that isn’t obsessed with Sherlock Holmes. Really interesting to think about how he’d come off to a normal person, or a sibling, and to really knock him down from the cultural pedestal. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian 2008
Again, for what this movie is intended to be I would probably give it 5 stars. As a kid, this movie was fairly “dark” and I think it’s good that it takes the material pretty seriously. Some of the subplots (political intrigue, romantic arc, under-developmental characters/the world) are a bit lacking. However, I made the leap into suspension of belief as a kid and so I think I automatically keep those assumptions whenever I rewatch this. An adult watching for…
