Ariana is a genuine star — you can’t take your eyes off her and she acts everyone else off the screen. Everything else is boring… so so boring. The rest of the performances are as flat as the lighting. Hard to fathom how a movie this big can look so terrible and be shot so lifelessly.
Lost it at the end not only because it has the most emotionally gut-wrenching finale of any film in recent memory, but also because it felt like the end of a filmmaking era that we may never see again. The last stand of big, complex adult filmmaking in the face of the marvelized infantilization of audiences.
