Why do they show the best-case result of their relationship in an extremely watchable montage, then make the ending such a "realistic," not-your-typical-happy-ending slap in the face? If they're not going to end up together, they shouldn't still be fantasizing about each other after 5 years.
Other than that... I get the hype
On the one hand, I actually like that the film is so surface-level Asian, but it's also a little disappointing that we're still at the stage where these kinds of stories have to travel all the way to Asia to be "bicultural." Marvel is the "world outside our window," so why do they interpret Asian-American to be so Asian, but minimally (almost begrudgingly) American?
It's a sick movie though, I can't lie. Going in, I thought the Ten Rings would be lame as a weapon, but by the end of the movie they're up there with Mjolnir.
There's still more people to meet. More opportunities to come. And more chances to try. Live, learn, apply.
