vibes and yearning and beautiful boy aside, this film was so incredibly human. The five minute long Bray-Dunes scene shows what many other WW2 films fail to capture. Yes, the atrocities and complexity of the war etc etc etc. Here however, amidst the chaos we see a gymnast, a choir, a film screening. These were people that had a rich life filled with personal memories, and no one on that beach knew if they would ever make it back again.…

After a failed attempt and a nuked nervous system yesterday I sat my ass down and finally got to watch this today. I am very pleased to say that all my expectations were met.
