I feel that it misses the overarching symbolism of Germany’s sociocultural upheaval and rebirth after WWII—and burying of its evil history—because it is simply such a distinctly American film. Famous American movie stars, mostly in English, and only mimics the serious German psychological darkness in a campy, mistranslated way. Really wanted more from the choreography for a story about dancers.

A mess of a movie. I really can’t deal with the cgi backdrops anymore. The dialogue was horrendous. It felt like I was being bashed over the head with horrific imagery and noise and as a result it wasn’t scary in the slightest.
0.5 star added because it’s the first thing I’ve seen in a while that I would put into the category of true Camp—it tried, wholly committed to its vision, and massively failed.
