this movie contains a jarring reference to the 1945 sherlock holmes film "woman in green" starring basil rathbone. jarring to me, at least, since it's a reference to my absolute favorite scene from that movie, i have watched the movie countless times and that clip in particular countless more... its like francis ford coppola did that just for me. not to be even more narcissistic, but i genuinely wonder how many people on earth would pick up on that reference.…

i saw this at a "sneak preview" showing at the filmtheater am friedrichshain, without knowing what i would see in advance. (seeing that it came out last year, perhaps the distribution to germany takes that long, or perhaps i misunderstood the event). the setting in which i watched it probably added at least a star to my rating, but who knows.
