I think Leigh Whannell wrote Detective Kerry as having terrible taste in men because he knew she would have been too powerful otherwise.

Kudos to Saw X for adding the most interesting characters, dynamics and traps to this franchise in more than a decade, and then completely fumbling at least 70% of John's characterization with the last 20 minutes or so. Regardless, this movie is an insane, cheesy, good time, and even with its flaws, it fits much better into the Saw universe than anyone could have expected. I can respect that.
I want Amanda Young's collection of big boots so, so badly.

Cruel and sweet at the same time, somehow: a story about the eroticism of violence, humiliation and the torment of the flesh, infused with a strangely romantic undertone of obsession. Strong imagery (there have been mentions by other reviewers of the image of Ryuzaki lying in his bed and holding on to his lover's severed arm, but the final shot is quite striking, too) and a moody score, characters who are trapped in the webs of their twisted desires and power dynamics. What an ending that was. What an ending.

I'd like to form coherent thoughts for the kind of serious review a movie like this deserves, but the only thing in my head right now is "Gina Gershon is hotter than the Sun" playing on loop. Whoops.
(Okay, serious moment: the plot of this movie is structured like a Jenga tower and it would collapse if you poked the tiniest element about it, but who cares? The tension, the performances, the score and the chemistry all make this a standout within the thriller genre and within queer cinema. Thank you for taking care of the gays, dear Wachowskis.)
