This is my first time rewatching this movie since it came out, and it hasn't improved on a second watch. The last 20 minutes are enjoyable, but everything else prior is pretty bad.

Johnny Depp is usually excellent as Jack Sparrow, but his performance here is so flat and lifeless that it feels like he would rather be doing anything else.

One of my favorite parts of the Pirates movies is the music. The score for this one was incredibly disappointing. It lacked the emotion and energy the others in the series have.

This movie feels like such a side quest from the rest of the series. It has its moments but is overall incredibly mediocre.

Penélope Cruz is excellent in this, but she can't fill the gap left by Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom.

I honestly don’t know how I made it this long without seeing this. Since it came out, it has been on my watch list, but for some reason or another, I never got around to it. I had high expectations going into this movie, but those expectations were blown out of the water. What an absolute masterpiece on every level!

This movie is the cherry on top that solidifies 2019 as one of the greatest years in cinema history!

On a second watch, I gained an even greater appreciation for this movie. There are so many small details that I completely missed on my first watch. Every shot is so meticulously crafted and purposeful that not a single second of its runtime feels wasted. The soundtrack is also excellent and is the heartbeat that drives the entire movie forward. Luca Guadanino’s direction is amazing along with the performance from Zendaya, Mike Faist, and Josh O’Connor. The final scene blew me away with the sheer amount of emotion and information that is communicated to the audience with hardly any dialogue.
