Im doing a double feature with my friend where we both chose a film without telling the other what we chose. This was a surprise and wow, i have no clue why i haven’t watched this yet.
Theres not many films where literally every aspect
shown on screen is a clear labor of love and passion, this film is gorgeous from beginning to end. It’s never scared to be weird and creepy and utterly endearing. I completely understand why some people dislike this film, but personally I think it’s an incredible and horrifying depiction of what it’s like to be a scared and confused kid. This film made me nostalgic in a bad way, in a way that was uncomfortable to be in and really made me reflect on some of the tough parts of my childhood. I think this film was really quite perfect at that. This is a film to reflect on.
