It was crazy for the edibles to hit just as it got to the last act when it gets kinda slower and dragged out a tad with slightly less fuckin surreal things happening. Maybe my heightened state is over compensating but i feel like im seeing every thought Jodorowsky had about religion and his relation to it and the artificiality of ignoring the sins and flaws in reality. since the time i watched this about a year ago i think…

Im doing a double feature with my friend where we both chose a film without telling the other what we chose. This was a surprise and wow, i have no clue why i haven’t watched this yet.

Theres not many films where literally every aspect
shown on screen is a clear labor of love and passion, this film is gorgeous from beginning to end. It’s never scared to be weird and creepy and utterly endearing. Some of the absolute best designs ive ever seen. Every scene of nature and weird creatures and plants were incredible and something i actively want to rewatch.

I completely understand why some people dislike this film, but personally I think it’s an incredible and horrifying depiction of what it’s like to be a scared and confused kid. This film made me nostalgic in a bad way, in a way that was uncomfortable to be in and really made me reflect on some of the tough parts of my childhood. I think this film was really quite perfect at that. This is a film to reflect on.
