Somewhere between an American western, a Sucksdorff semi-documentary and Dreyer's Vampyr. There should've been more films from Sápmi, the sceneries are great, and the people and animals placed neatly within the frame. But then there's the music... I don't mind it so much in itself (especially not the vocal parts). Since it hardly ever quiets down though, it drowns most of the film. This gets extra problematic during the parts which are meant to be scary. Lots of good bits…

A surprisingly raw, even scary, start showing the results of the spreading bacteria. What follows is a skilled sci-fi/political thriller. A bit stiff and silly at times, but with colorful set designs, some lovely special effects, moody music by Gil Mellé and some actual human drama. Extra plus for split screen sequences, Boston Strangler style.

Made me think of the USA:s grip of popular culture and the importance of the car in that culture. Always refreshing with some SF locations (The Lineup, Dark Passage, The Sniper...) for a change. The total lack of chemistry in the scenes between them makes it rather unbelievable Frazer gets under Cullen's skin in the way he says she does. This makes the basis for plot a bit weak. What almost makes one forget it though is the wind howling, foot step echoing search of the last section - great stuff!
