Snow White 2025
Hey! Not half bad! Finally a Disney live action remake with a take and the jewels to commit to it! Zegler is enchanting and doing a fabulous balancing act of grounded and cartoony (a la Ariana I dare say), and Gal Gadot’s bad acting played right into their hammy take on the queen. This thing doesn’t look like a million bucks but it’s got the goods in it a lot of ways.

The Goonies 1985
Idk maybe I’m nostalgia-pilled but this is like, the best kids movie ever. It’s loose, it has plenty of gags, yet it’s impeccably directed by one of the great workmen directors in Richard Donner. It feels less like a singular precise vision but rather a craft of love from a ton of artists at the top of their game. It feels like a movie made by a bunch of Goonies! Maybe the pieces don’t fit perfectly together, but the collective whole is beautiful (like literally beautiful, there is some incredible photography in this thing).
