Despite what I am about to say I did really enjoy the movie and its themes and cinematography are great.
I do not like trope of ending a film on “ a character hears or discovers right at the end just to cut to black” either finish the characters arc or kill him to prove a point. You’re kinda just left with Hugh jackman’s character being unfulfilled after he just does the same thing all movie and ends up in a pit. Maybe Dennis just didn’t really want to end or didn’t know how to write the end

Fun fact: Mars doesn’t have a strong magnetic core like Earth, which acts like a shield protecting us from most of the radiation from the sun. That means even if there was an atmosphere, they’d be blasted with so much solar radiation that they’d all probably end up like Kuato if they stayed outside.
