Penda's Fen 1974
probably my favourite folk horror i’ve seen so far, it poses so many interesting questions and discussions about the dialectics and contradictions in british identity, culture and life.
The film does certainly at points look like a tv drama and obviously that’s because it was but i didn’t mind that at all. i was shocked that a bbc play from the mid 70s was quite so explicit about homosexuality which made the film all the more interesting

wow wowee, glad i saw this again in a cinema. This has to be one of the most technically impressive films i’ve seen, like i still don’t know how they got half those shots. The art direction is genius and visually it’s stunning. For the most part the sound is astonishingly good, outdated dub step wubs aside. I wish i liked the editing style more and the dialogue at points is almost unbearably cringe which isn’t aided by some poor…

this was a fascinating psychoanalytical puzzle box that was as intriguing and mesmerising as i was expecting. The psychoanalytical juice is running through this one from the get go and it really isn’t even subtext here it’s the bread and butter of the narrative; Jungian masks come off, go on, get layered on top of each other. Personalities entwine, switch and morph. Characters dissolve into each other, the protagonists are at once themselves, their opposites…Translated from by
