Well. I uttered a very audible “wow” several times throughout this film. I felt such a vast range of emotion that i have rarely, if ever experienced through the genre lens of a horror film. This movie is brutal. It is deathly serious. It is heartbreaking, intense, disgusting, breathtaking, terrifying, beautiful and uncomfortable. Lest I mention also, my. god. This film is masterfully shot and edited. Many, and I speak no hyperbole when I say MANY shots look as though…

:'( what a tough and real look at toxic behaviour and toxic relationships in general. Vicky Krieps knocks it out of the fucking park!!! And Daniel Day lewis too is in this movie. by which i mean his performance is incredible but that's like stating the sky exists and attempting to elicit some kind of response.
    Anyways, Wow.
    I need a cigarette and a hug.

Incredible practical effects, utterly palpable suspense and dread at every corner, compelling characters and motivations, fantastic set design. All culminating to make (in my opinion) the best horror movie of all time.

Quite the slow burn, but the Cohen brothers really know what they’re doing when it comes to suspense and pacing. This film is one of the most consistently tense, well acted, and gripping Neo-noir/westerns to ever be adapted to the screen. The score (or lack thereof) in many places bolsters just how realistic this film feels. Excellent set design, compelling character arcs and motivations, all wrapped together in a masterclass of film editing.
