more of an educational outline than a spirited story some of the time. the acting was very good and i truly felt the spirit of rustin in colman domingo however the film lacked the deeper emotion i think could have been produced to make the lessons of the film hit home just a bit more.

it was clear to me from the first scene, without knowing anything about leonard bernstein, that he loved his wife. and that carried throughout the entire film. whether that love was romantic or platonic, it was clearly there. he loved her company, he cared what her opinions were, he remembered things about her, he did not want to lose her and he could not bear it when he did. he loved felicia. and she loved him. their love ran deep. i think he loved her more than music. maybe even more than their children. and they never stopped loving eachother.
