Essential viewing. I love this culture. I love their fierceness and creativity and stupidity and humor. Everyone is trying to build an illusion of importance and find community on this wretched earth and I just love that the director gave everyone the respect to share themselves and what they find meaningful. This vampire is not sexy and charismatic but lonely and condemned to a philosophical black hole.

It was alright. Most of the performances were great but Bill Skarsgard was definitely disappointing, he plays him very distantly and basically was an uninteresting incel. It still looked moody and was shot beautifully. The set design was atmospheric and felt lived in. I think I’m just missing the dread and despair and drama the herzog version had. Also there were questionable edits throughout the movie and shockingly stupid jumpscares? I wasn’t sure if the editing just sucked or my…
