How it starts and how it ends; it holds you tight through it all, just like when you were a child, coming back home, hurt and crying about your food that was taken away from you by the bullies at your class, finding your mom holding you tightly, calming you down, warming you, making you feel safe.
Your tears getting down on her cheeks, making her feel your pain, as her words try to convince you that those bullies at school are not bad people.
And the next day, she makes more sandwiches, just for them.

Stolen Kisses 1968
It was utterly beautiful witnessing Antoine growing older, growing away from desolation and trying to find his way through life and his own voice, into this emotional and lighthearted character, while holding on to his intricacy - those hand gestures the way he touches Christine's face and the "ring" when he proposes.
It's again beautiful to watch Truffaut's reality.
