The concept is genuinely really interesting, but some of the most interesting ideas don’t get to fully play out and we’re left with an hour of eyes wide shut without much real explanation. Still enjoyed it, could have done more with it.

The King 2019
It’s not perfect, but I’ll be damned if it wasn’t a bit of a hoot. There’s something under appreciated to this film that I can’t put my finger on, but everything truly came together through a great scene with his future wife near the end. Robert Pattinson being a mischievous imp as per usual adds some humour.

The Brutalist 2024
Watched in IMAX. Brilliantly ambitious, some fantastic sequences in here including the opening alongside the booming score. A film for our time, without a clear theme per se but touching so many issues (both a strength and a weakness). I agree with others that the first half is stronger than the second, and the ending didn’t quite match the start. Definitely a film to revisit and worthy of its praise.
