Alien: Romulus 2024
I'm old enough to remember how much people hated the newborn in Resurrection when it came out, and how much people hated the stupidity of Promotheus (which I actually liked) and Covenant (which I think is bottom low in the series) but somehow this is OK? I don't get the praise here at all. Super bland and an off entry in the Alien anthology but we are starting to get some now. This is not a good follow up in any sense to me. But I do believe in Noah Hawley.

Baghead 2023
Lots of horrors have badly written characters who make idiotic choices. But this one is on a different level entirely. Such a great and pretty novel concept. Excruciatingly bad writing and story development ruins the entire movie. No amount of good acting, directing, photo and editing can save such abysmal writing in the end. Don't waste your time.

Uzumaki 2024
The original manga is one of my favorite piece of art in any media, any form, of all time. And the first episode captured it spectacularly, accompanied by the haunting soundtrack from Colin Stetson. Unfortunately it's a downward spiral from episode 2 and out. The quality of the animation plummets. Disgraceful really, thinking they spent 5 years on this. Did they spend 4 of them on the first episode and had to rush to wrap it up?
