Second viewing and this remains just a strong addition to the Batman universe. This movie is a vibe and sometimes leans a little bit too much on being a vibe. If you are into that vibe, you’ll love every second of it. If you are not, this becomes a bit to slow paced.

Straight man in his forties absolutely devastated by this smart take on a coming of age story.
Asked a hardcore Batman Fan the following question;
"If I where to only watch one Animated Batman movie, which one would you recommend"
Batman: Year One was his answer. Which is actually quite funny since this is first and foremost a great "commissioner" Gordon story. Big fan of the Detective/Film Noire vibe approach to this part of the story (Bryan Cranston kills it!). And also good to see some flaws in his character.

Richard Linklater and Glen Powell seem to have found the right amount of charm for telling this story. Enjoyed it a lot more then I thought I would but the chemistry within the ensemble and the way the story is written (you get educated throughout the story) is just perfect in a Linklater kind of way.
