i like movies where people talk a lot <3
i now understand why so many people say that this is an incredible film yet they never want to watch it again. i have never been quite this disturbed by any piece of media i’ve watched. i never wanted to do heroin before and now i REALLY never want to do it. holy fuck.
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
what a stunning experience. the striking colors, the lovely score and the lingering shots all work together to show love and yearning in a way that words simply can’t.
normally i lean towards very dialogue heavy films, that really let the characters tell you who they are, so i really didn’t expect to love this as much as i do. it’s the epitome of “show, don’t tell”.
mrs chan never says that she’s also in love with chow, but it’s…
this is the first scorsese film i’ve ever watched, and although it probably won’t be the last, it also is an example of why i never felt drawn to his work in the past. it’s simply not for me.
however, i did really enjoy the score. i think the reoccurring jazz theme was incredibly pleasant and added a lot of atmosphere, and i really loved how the music intensified the tenser moments.
i’ve been lonely most of my life, and yet…
this film fucking BANGS and no one can tell me otherwise
