Born to Be Bad 1950
By the penultimate scene I really wanted to hate the movie for all the obvious reasons. Then something about that last scene with Fontaine and Ferrer tempered my reaction somewhat, felt like maybe it wasn’t just another insanely misogynistic morality tale.
Would love to know if anyone’s written about whether the Gobby character is meant to be queer-coded and if so how that fits into the inclusion of queer characters in noir (other than as villains).
