A bit cliché to say this, but they (other than Soderbergh) do not make em like this (potboiler drama with a movie star) anymore.

At first I thought Mann was kind of a weird choice to direct this, but his post-Insider slightly paranoid skepticism is actually kind of perfect for the man vs institutions story this movie tells. The camera moves around like Ali, focusing and unfocusing during the boxing scenes in way that is pretty thrilling. The best Will Smith has ever been in a movie.

Unbearably moving and yet basically impossible (for me) to understand. When the movie seems to start playing again on a loop, that's cinema, baby.

It rocks. Eggers' use history in this is probably my favorite part. In The Witch, the horror comes from the fears and anxieties of people on the time when the movie is set. But in Nosferatu, there's also the tension between the old and the new, modern science (or at least modern as of the 1830s) vs old belief. It just so happen that when it comes to Nosferatu, the old beliefs work a lot better and sometimes you just gotta stake a guy in the heart.
