We had a nostalgic movie night, and how could I have forgotten how hilarious this film is - it turns into absolute farce about two thirds through, and it truly is "delightful".

Hayley Mills is so impressive, and this was a truly cutting edge film for the time in terms of the cinematic techniques. A nostalgic classic that still hits the feels!

    I mean, it's Denis Villeneuve. It's a visually stunning, well-crafted film.

Story wise, the pacing felt a bit odd in places, and some of the humour felt like it didn't quite land - at least, not within the world that had been established so far.

But, it's well worth a watch and a fitting 'part two' - best experienced in a cinema!

It's a pretty fun film, with some interesting twists and turns. The spirits aren't very scary once you actually see them, but for me, the film is more about the feeling of disturbia and dread which builds throughout. One note about the characters, however, is that none of them are particularly likeable. We don't root for them, which for me, lessened the impact of the ending somewhat. It's definitely fun though, and a cool take on many things we've seen before.

Of course, brilliantly stunning and with great music, Makoto Shinkai's third outing brings a bit of cheekiness and fun to an Alice in Wonderland-feel coming-of-age romance.

With a few plot points that could have been executed smoother and a slightly underwhelming arresting emotional climax, 'Suzume' doesn't quite reach the heights of 'Your Name' - but still very much worth a watch.
