  God, I adore this film!! On a rewatch it has lost none of its luster: total knockout, brilliantly entertaining thanks in large parts to perfect casting and editing. It manages, for lack of a better word, a delicate balancing act between pulpy combat, a campy villain, and a genuine coming-of-age story at its core about growing up, sisterhood, and family. Even the two friends, while totally over the top and ridiculous, somehow manage to remain convincing. You can tell that everyone who worked on this set was deeply committed to telling this story - and had boatloads of fun!

  this, friends, is what i like to call a good old-fashioned circle jerk. the epitome of style over substance. a movie about a guy jerking off for two hours (feels like: 4) over having nothing to say. news flash: repeatedly knocking the viewer over the head with the voice of a critic telling us how utterly pointless this film is does not actually invalidate that critique, it merely points out what is already obvious. there is no doubt that this…
