The Monkey 2025
Horror comedy is not my cup of tea, but I thought I would give this a shot. Unfortunately it was a waste of my time. Some gruesome kills but I've never been a "bro the kills were so sick" type of horror fan; I want to feel unsettled, creeped out, disturbed, or disoriented by horror movies. Instead I just felt disappointed.

Smile 2 2024
It's tempting to call this "Kubrick Stare: The Movie," but there's so much more to this incredible sequel than the smiling gimmick and stunt casting. Plenty of gore and jump scares for the horror aficionados, but it never feels cliched or predictable. I enjoyed Smile but Smile 2 seems far more haunting, tense, creepy and bleak to me.

Masking Threshold 2021
This was easily one of the most intense and original horror movies of 2022, if not one of the most intense and original that I've ever seen. Almost the entire movie is shot in varieties of close-up, with lots of macro lens shots. The first non-close-up occurs 17 minutes into the movie! There were so many disgusting moments, but almost none of them involved blood. This movie is worth your time, and I would recommend watching it with headphones if possible, but be ready to adjust the volume real quick.
