when you ignore the facile political fantasy frame, it works in a way that the final act of 28 days later works crossed with nightcrawler. American road movie into the heart of darkness set pieces focusing on self aggrandizing journalism indistinguishable from voyeurism. then ultimately reckoning with their sheer moral cowardice. I don't want to give Danny Boyle too much credit for this though but I did enjoy from this perspective.
