This was interesting watch, on the one hand the concept is amazing and it’s a very interesting premise. On the other, it doesn’t say anything particularly interesting, in Snowpiercer and Parasite, Bong Joon Ho explored the blurred line between revolutionary and oppressor when violent occurred. But in this film Ruffalo is as subtle as a brick and irredeemably evil.
Also the comedy doesn’t really work, a scene in a trailer has completely different music which turns what seemed to be…
Welcome to the Mid-CU.
Do you remember The Incredible Hulk? What about Eternals? Civil War? Falcon and Winter Soldier? Do you remember who Ross is? No? Well you will feel like this film has given you homework.
This film reeks of the reshoots that supposedly went on, it’s far too clean cut, entirely unadventurous and not particularly interesting.
It’s never entirely boring with the occasional glossy action scene and Harrison Ford scene stealing but you spend the entire film waiting…
Take note Trap, this is how you do a movie with concert scenes!
I had no expectations for this but this film was so engaging. It made me jump, the soundtrack again is gorgeous, the performances and cinematography are amazing.
Scott does such a great job as the lead and the monster ties in really well with the themes of fame and perception.
So good.
So basically this is the first film again, not a reboot but closer to a remake or reimagining. The pacing is much better than the original. But if you’ve seen the original and you’ve watched the trailer then you’ve seen this movie.
As it stands it was a fun b-movie and I already have theories as to where they could be taking the two sequels. Hopefully the answers are good because at the moment this is just mid.
