Focused a lot more on pennies considering it has nickel in the name [67]

Easily my favorite film of 2024 and a must-watch. It's style of POV did not work at all for me at first and felt super clunky, but as the story developed it not only perfectly clicked into place, but became so obviously necessary. The central relationship is authentic and organic in the best way possible, and the thematics feel so surface level initially that you don't…

    What the fuck Oscars? [18]

When it comes to analyzing film there tends to be a lot of personal opinions that go into it, but when a film is bad in every aspect you look at from a methodical run-through, it's simply bad. There is, and I truly mean this, virtually no good aspects in this film outside of Zoe Saldaña, who must have broken her back carrying this ungodly heavy movie on it. And yet somehow this film is…

There were like two random moments in this movie with beautiful shots, did anyone else find that to be kind of weird? [41]

A technical rom-com that feels more like just a romance than a comedy as most of the humor falls flat. Loved watching her girlboss, but the actual sex related scenes never worked for me and I found myself constantly annoyed with decisions in the script. There's something very good in here, but I think they needed to…

I love it when movies have unexpected endings [47]

Taking place entirely at The Grand Hotel this movie is a great allegory for various lifestyles and philosophies. The focus on the necessity of money was a welcome one, along with the pleasures and pains it can bring. Kringelein is easily the standout of the five central figures, but they are all well written and thought-out and I love how most of their interweaving storylines go. I do think there's a bit too much meandering in this to keep a constant engagement, but it's an enjoyable sit-through nevertheless.

"There's a Grand Hotel in every city."

Someone please explain to me the science of why Mary is so much hotter while in the military versus when she is not [66]

I love it when knowing the culture around movies makes the watch more enjoyable, and way more when the film is actually really good. The bubbles scene could've been a lot better, but it's really the only part of the movie that drags in any way. Also the way I gasped when they had like genuine…
