Lost Highway 1997
So much of Lynch’s filmography deals with the willful fracture of the self, in which the parts responsible for evil are excised and personified as an outside force rather than some part of the interior, with which the rational mind cannot possibly identify. I think this film is his most direct, and nearly his most effective version of this.
