  It was fun to watch and it has some good things going on for it. Not Bong Joon-ho’s best film or anywhere close to that title but it does have one particular thing that increased my respect and admiration for him to an even greater degree.

  There are certain essential films which everyone should watch, because they truly reveal what other people had to go through in graphic detail. To read about atrocities in a history book is one thing, to actually see them being recreated with your own eyes is another thing entirely. These were just ordinary people who had their father (In Eunice's case, husband) taken away from them for no real reason, and I'm glad we all now have the opportunity to watch…

  The best detective film I have seen so far and probably Bong Joon-ho's best work too. Being able to add so much humor to such a serious film without compromising on its seriousness is a cinematic feat and deserves to be recognised and applauded.

  The movie delves into police incompetence and brutality and spends a lot of time criticising the South Korean government of the time (a military dictatorship, really). It has several scenes of police officers torturing innocent people…
