Intermission 2003
hysterically funny, genuinely heartwarming, deeply 2003 from start to finish. totally unpredictable! the intimacy of the shooting style works really well in these stories (especially with the introduction of Ben’s TV dreams + his final scene). huge for going “wait THEY’RE in this TOO?” and otherwise cheering.

Okay, in full honesty, we left at intermission because we were really sleepy (we were REALLY sleepy, alright?) but as we were leaving the theater, we both went “I wasn’t expecting the second one to be better!”
I know I watched this one ages ago, but I remembered it far less clearly than the first volume and was transfixed. The scene where the Bride is being buried alive and the film slips into b&w was utterly terrifying. We’re finishing it ASAP.

What an odd movie! It seemed very proud of itself for being so clever and moral and aware of humanity’s flaws. The performances were all over the place; Collette in particular sounded like she had sand in her mouth half the time. Adrienne C. Moore and Cedric Yarbrough’s characters are utterly bizarre counterparts to Hoult’s, nearly caricatures. The plot barely even held together. The ideas presented about Good People and Bad People and Crime are juvenile at best. Eastwood’s direction is aggressively heavy-handed. And my goodness this thing dragged on for EVER.
