It's The Substance for sci-fi: it has themes and by god is it going to explore those themes with the tact and subtlety of getting hit by a truck.

Emilia Pérez 2024
Leaving aside the portrayal of Mexico, this film's biggest sin is that it can't decide if it's going for camp or for a serious drama about cartel violence. It's like if Rocky Horror stopped every 15 minutes to give a straight-faced account of the dangers of cocaine. Unfortunately this just results in a terrible film and I'm baffled how this got any nominations.
