A great example of style over substance. Very gritty, angst ridden edge lord detective drama with some great performances. The way it’s shot and the style of the movie is by far its best part. Literally feels like watching a comic book. Sadly the movie adopts a pulp fiction ish editing style that ultimately makes the movie feel like a roller coaster in the worst way. Some very interesting parts, Elijah Woods performance is a highlight. Followed up by Clive Owen’s best impression of a cool guy.

I even watched the directors cut thinking that the movie might be somewhat redeemable. While the whole movie is not a complete waste of time, it is a bit overly edgy and gritty just for the sake of it. The movie is very early 2000s. Also pretty much everything works on paper then Affleck does a good daredevil, the costume looks cool, Jennifer Garner as Electra is hot even if a little stale. Michael Clark Duncan as Fisk is a real highlight but every SINGLE time Colin Feral is on screen the movie drops to absolute hot dogshit.

Movie has an almost comically bad voice cast of awkward 90’s cheese and weird line deliveries. While there’s the occasional blood soaked, brain splattered shootout, the movie is bogged down with futuristic jargon and conversations about identity. Worth watching for the hot anime boobies and the sci fi violence, maybe fast forward through to the next interesting scene.

I came here for an almost obscene amount of violence and gore. I was happy with the at-least 10 or 15 abhorrently gory kills. Osgood Perkins cosplaying as a mangled cherry pie will live in my mind forever. Movie also on top of being an almost saw level gory horror movie, also attempts to have some comedic levity that doesn’t really land most times. Osgood should stick to his cinematography and directing skills and take some time off from writing scripts.
