After Hours 1985
This may be one of my new favorites. The feeling of “the night” in this movie is so wonderous and dream-like, depicted as a world with it’s own rules that bless those familiar to it and curse the unaware. I don’t think I’ve seen a movie depict this kind of stress before, where the protagonists (often willful) ignorance and failure to properly meet this world on its own terms is the sole driving force of its antagonism to him. Phenomenal, beautiful, insane film.

This was such a phenomenally funny movie. A great depiction of the early covid era with some really horrificly awkward (but very funny) encounters. Excellent performances by the whole cast. I love seeing something locked in one location and really utilize it well.

I feel very meh on this movie. Some parts of it were very enjoyable, some jokes got a chuckle. But ultimately it’s a comic book movie. It lacks themes or interesting character development.
