Three distinct acts with a nice long denouement.
The first act I was nervous the entire time, didn't like it but I recognize it's importance for setting up the characters and tone.
Second act was great. Funny pretty much the whole way through in a somewhat uncommon way.
Third act was really good. It finally broke off the comedy that we'd been clinging to to keep us from acknowledging how sad the story was for the whole first 2 hours.…Translated from by -
Event Horizon 1997
Freaky and nasty but only really in short bursts. Not too gruesome for me, but it's definitely close. If they wanted to get nastier they could have with very little effort, and it's possible they wanted to but the studio wouldn't let them.
It's a cool idea and I'm glad I've seen it for the FTL travel concept and consequences.
