The Departed 2006
Go watch the original Hong Kong film Infernal Affairs part 1 which was the inspirational for this movie that shown no respect or acknowledgement for the original writers. Infernal Affairs is considers THE Hong Kong trilogy of its time after years of poorly produced films between late 90s and early 00s.

Year of the Dragon 1985
The only film (as of now) that depicts The grittiness if NYC Chinatown and its youth gangs. The film gives a great insight on the politics of Chinese American/Immigrant organized crimes. John Lone performance as the new Dai Lo (Godfather) was spectacular. Mickey Rourke made a decent detective, but the story revolves too much around him as the white savor of LES. Give this classic movie a watch.

The Grandmaster 2013
Depending on which version you’ve watched, the Hong Kong version contains a better backstory between Ip Man & Gong Er. Unlike the US cut edition you loose about 40 minutes of a beautiful martial art masterpiece by WKW that took him 10 years to be produced.
