Based on the critics reviews and the general consensus here I assumed this film would be unwatchable. While it certainly doesn’t break any new ground and I do wonder how it cost $320 million, I had a reasonable amount of fun with it. The robot characters were easy fun and Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown provided decent enough performances to keep me engaged. For someone who flocks to anything sci-fi, this at least did the job for a streaming film. Won’t be one I rewatch, but for a lazy Friday afternoon I have no complaints.

A Real Pain 2024
A beautiful glance into what it looks like to deal with grief and also reflect on our pasts. Funny in moments and heart breaking in others this movie struck a perfect chord with me. Having walked through multiple concentration camps myself, I thought the movie captured the heaviness of that experience beautifully. Kieran Culkin delivers an absolute masterclass as well. I loved him in Succession and he continues to do brilliant work. I am seated for anything he does coming up.

As a big fan of the musical I had my fears when this was announced but I could not be more pleased with this final product. The production design was top notch and the infamous songs were beautifully adapted to the screen. Cynthia and Ariana as the two leads turned out to be excellent casting and my only complaint is that we don’t get to see part 2 for another year. Bring it on.

Bullet Train 2022
This movie will easily go down as one of my favorites of the year. From the very start of the movie until the thrilling end, the action never stopped. The characters were all interwoven wonderfully and the multiple twists and turns had me guessing what would happen the entire movie. If you are looking for pure action movie fun, this is an easy choice.
