Platonic ideal seventies thriller that falters a bit in execution.

Notorious 1946
This film is absolutely gorgeous. It’s also one of Hitchcock’s most precisely staged films as well.
This is a spy film where the actual spy work doesn’t really matter; it’s more of a background for the emotional sparring and relationships between the three leads. And these are fucking leads: Cary Grant, Ingrid Bergman, and Claude Rains are probably three of the most iconic and acclaimed performers of all time, and they’re all here giving top-class performances. And of course any film starring the absolute unit Cary Grant is an automatic classic. Top-Tier Hitch.Translated from by -
Jaws 1975
There’s really no good descriptive term for this film other than perfection. Jaws is colossal, immediate, efficient, vividly effective, and relentless from start to finish. Mr. Spielberg made the first huge blockbuster with this film, and Hollywood has never looked back.. for better or worse. Quite possibly the single most important film of the last 50 years, if not ever.
