  Historical drama just doesn't get better. Brings to life the cataclysm of the Great Hunger in Ireland. On one level it's a super-hero flick and fantasy revenge drama. More deeply it tells the story of agony and trauma. I love the candor about the indifferent colonial government - told in a sophisticated and nuanced way that does not villianize the opponent. A great St Patrick's Day watch ..

  Incredible- a Great. Belongs in my Top 25 of All Time. Gritty detail of post-war Japan’s poverty alongside universal themes of what drives people to steal. Plus a “buddy cop” flick.
