This film has not aged well. The CG is laughably bad.

The plot could have been interesting and a series of films could've been made on the original premise but the film goes from zero to lame faster than light speed. Outer space gore - with ppl who smoke cigarettes in space!? - tries to hide the warts of this space turkey.

Sci-fi lovers deserve much more and the talent in the cast was a massive waste.

The ship didn't have to go to a whole other dimension - "a place of chaos and evil!" (LOL - wut?) for the film to work. Just lazy writing.

Every now and then a film about America gets made that's not full of hokum (Dances w Wolves) or other flag waving bullshittery. America is not a pretty story but it's a pretty important story. America is obtuse, ugly, and the Brutalist is a profoundly important mirror to our great experiment.

Turning in career best performances: of course Adrian Brody, but Felicity Jones and Guy Pearce were exceptional.

I'm gonna go watch Vox Lux now bc I feel like we slept on Brady Corbet's extraordinary vision.

    It's a great film.

Sean Baker does not miss. All of his films speak to me and the desire to see 'warts and all' America. No bs, no over the top special effects or hokey pleads for suspension of belief.

Mikey Madison turns in an exceptional performance.

Def in the top films of 2024.
